Noor Theatre‘s inaugural season of Highlight begins on Monday, September 13th at 7:30 PM at The Fourth Street Theatre. This reading series of exciting plays by playwrights of Middle-Eastern descent runs once a month from September through December. These four evenings differ in style, tone, and subject matter, from Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt to an agent's Hollywood office.

"As a new company, Noor Theatre cannot produce every one of these deserving writers yet, but we can present their unique voices to the greater community," writes Producing Artistic Director Nancy Vitale, who conceived the series. "Highlight is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase not only emerging playwrights in the New York Theatre scene, but also diverse perspectives in the cultural dialogue."

The first evening features Sevan Kaloustian Greene's Forgotten Bread, directed by Johanna McKeon, assisted by Pirronne Yusefzadeh. It is the touching and sometimes humorous journey of a Lost Son trying to discover his family's past and reclaim his identity. This scene cycle of life, death, and survival about the Armenian Genocide incorporates family history, survivor testimonies, and eyewitness accounts.
Sevan Kaloustian Greene is a playwright and actor of Lebanese-Armenian/Pakistani origin. He is a member of The Public Theater ‘s 2010 Emerging Writers Group and the Rising Circle Theatre Collective's 2010 InkTANK Writer's Lab. Other plays include: DOON, Say Something, Into the Light, Babel, and The Altared Saints. Mr. Greene was seen on stage in Lortel Award-Winning Betrayed at The Culture Project and the Kennedy Center, as well as in New York Theatre Workshop's Aftermath.
The cast includes Noel Allain, Jacqueline Antamarian, Kim Morgan Dean, Ramsey Faragallah, Sevan Greene, Piter Marek, Michele Rafic, Peter Sabri, Sona Tatoyan, Tamar Vezirian, and Audra Wahhab. The evening is stage managed by Larry K. Ash.

There will be refreshments served after the show including a Lebanese wine, Chateau Musar, generously donated by Broadbent Selections.

4th Street Theatre is located at 83 E. 4th Street between Bowery and 2nd Avenues.
