In response to the Presidential election and the state of our divided nation, New York Theatre Barn will produce a reading of the new musical Days of Rage on Monday, November 28th, 2016 at The Cell.

How far would you go for something you believe is right? Who is responsible for violence and how do you break the cycle? Inspired by the activities of The Weathermen/Weather Underground Organization and The Black Panther Party in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Days of Rage captures the passion and conviction of that turbulent era and questions how far one should go in defense of what they believe is right.

The music is written by Jonathan Larson Award and Daryl Roth Award-winner Hyeyoung Kim, with lyrics by Shoshana Greenberg, and a book written by both women. Direction is by Joe Barros (Gigi, Cagney), musical direction is by Christopher D. Littlefield, Savannah Kurtz is the stage manager, and the cast includes Adam Theodore Barry, Ben Bogen, Michael Enright, Luke Forbes (The Merchant of Venice), Jeremy Gaston (Sister Act, National Tour), Michelle Beth Herman, Bruce Jones, Charlie Levy, Kelly McIntrye (A Night With Janis Joplin, National Tour), Zurin Villanueva (Shuffle Along), Noah Zachary, and EJ Zimmerman (Les Miserables).

"New York Theatre Barn is incubating and creating untold stories with storytellers who embody the alternative, diverse, and authentic aspects of the stories", said Artistic Director Joe Barros. "We work in service of a theatre that must fully and fairly mirror the reality of the world. This is the perfect time to be telling the story of the Black Panthers and the Weather Underground because history is repeating itself. A story about our civil and political rights is more important than ever."

The presentation will take place at 7PM at The Cell, located at 338 West 23rd St. in New York City. For reservations and inquiries, email Artistic Director Joe Barros: joe@nytheatrebarn.org.
