The New York Playwrights Lab - the 35 year-old organization founded keep established playwrights writing for the theatre - will offer a sample of its members' newest works in a series of free readings at 6:00 PM January 19-23 at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City. Featuring brand new plays by Lab founder and artistic director Israel Horovitz, Lynn Nottage, David Bar Katz, Stephen Adly Guirgis and Richard Vetere and , and a collection of plays by current members titled Foodies, you won't want to miss this opportunity to witness theatre from a unique perspective.

The NY Playwrights Lab was founded 35 years ago by playwright Israel Horovitz, who has been the Lab's Artistic Director since its inception. An ever-changing group of established American playwrights, the 2009 Lab membership includes Neena Beber, Ellen Melaver, Seth Zvi Rosenfeld, Sarah Ruhl, Peter Parnell, Richard Vetere, Daniel Reitz, Nicole Burdette, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Tanya Barfield, Lynn Nottage, Israel Horovitz, Matthew Weiss, Michael Hollinger, Richard Wesley and Brett C. Leonard.

The mission of the New York Playwrights Lab is to encourage established American playwrights to continue writing for theatre.
