The New York Euripides Summer Festival presents the only complete satyr play Cyclops for its 2016 summer season with five, free performances starting July 29 through August 5
This comic dramatization, based on Book IX of Homer's The Odyssey, is the only extant surviving satyr play and depicts Odysseus confronting Polyphemus, one of the cyclopes, on his way back to Ithaca, before escaping from Sicily. Enjoy a fully-staged production of this rarely produced classic, presented by American Thymele Theatre with music by Athan Hilaki, without intermission. Stephen Diacrussi directs this satyric remnant from 425B.C.E. The cast includes Beatrice Ghose,
Andrew James Gordon, Patrick J. Leddy,
Fenton Li, Peter Mercury, and Tristan Polania.
