Actress Nastasha Strang emerges as eight different characters in the original dark comedy play "FriendAndy.com," making its world premiere on August 11th, 2012 as part of the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival.
"FriendAndy.com" follows Andy, a blogger, who achieves viral success and becomes the leader of a new trend in Internet marketing. Attempting to balance his newfound fame, a long-distance girlfriend, and staying true to his original vision threatens to send Andy into overload. Strang enters the scene portraying eight different characters thrust into Andy's world, including Pam, a representative from the marketing company who makes Andy an offer he can't refuse.
From Forward Flux Productions LLC and Creator/Director Wesley Fruge, this new multi-media show combines technology and movement for a revealing look at our digital lives, weaving together video, Skype, blogging, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook in telling the story. Fruge remembered Strang from their days of studying acting together and brought her in during the project's inception, knowing that she would be perfect for the role of Pam and various other characters sprinkled throughout the show.
Strang is thrilled to be making her FringeNYC debut in such a unique project, explaining "FriendAndy.com' is a unique concept that's never been addressed before. It's not similar to a movie or based on a book. It's modern and very relevant to the world of social media today."
Later this summer, Strang shoots a supporting role in the independent film, "The 19th Hole," about an Irish-American computer engineer at a major insurance company who reluctantly teams up with a brilliant and beautiful actuary who has been blackballed from the company tournament. Together they learn a little bit about golf, a bit about life, and discover romance along the way.
Strang has appeared in numerous independent films, including "Conspiracy X," "Birds," and "Freedom"; and several commercials, voiceovers, cabarets, and even on the Maury Povich show where she performed in a reenactment -- and no she does not have a "Baby Daddy". She has also performed in a number of "Off Off Broadway" productions, including "Wild Blue," "George & Gracie: A Love Story," and "Social Security," and she recently joined Actor's Equity Association.
This Rockwall, Texas native first gained a passion for singing, acting, and dancing during high school where Strang participated in all the choirs, the Stingerette's drill team, and various musicals. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in Genetics, she moved to New York City to pursue her acting dream where she honed her skills, studying with such renowned coaches as Larry Moss, Shane-Ann Younts, Ron Stetson, and Jessica Wolf.
