The fully improvised live sitcom, Naked in a Fishbowl, films its next six episodes with a new casting director, Katja Blichfeld (30 Rock, NBC), and a new theater, The Cherry Lane. Starting Monday, July 18 and running through August 15, Naked will run for six episodes starting at 7pm. Each show is 60 minutes long.

"I've been a fan of these women since 2007, so when they approached me about working with them, I said ‘yes' without a moment's hesitation," said Blichfeld. "I'm blown away - not just by their talent for improv, but by their truthfulness. I really admire how they've built this show on their own terms."

Katja Blichfeld, Casting Director
Katja joins the Naked in a Fishbowl team as CASTING DIRECTOR. Currently Blichfeld is Co-Casting Director of the multiple Emmy award-winning television series 30 ROCK, about to begin its sixth season. She's been with the series since its pilot episode, working with Casting Director Jennifer McNamara Shroff. Katja also served as the casting coordinator for NBC Universal Television (both in NY and LA) where she helped to cast series regulars for all NBC, SyFy, and USA network pilots (Parenthood, Royal Pains, White Collar to name a few). Other notable credits include the film Freedomland, the FX comedy series Starved, AMC's Life Coach, and the inaugural year of Glamour Magazine's Reel Moments short film series.

The Cherry Lane Theatre
Situated in a landmark building in Greenwich Village, Cherry Lane Theatre serves as a vital lab for the development of new American works and a home for groundbreaking productions of both new and classic theater of the highest caliber. As New York's longest continuously running Off-Broadway theatre, Cherry Lane has helped to define American drama, fostering fresh, daring, and relevant theater for 85 years. In 1996, Artistic Director Angelina Fiordellisi founded the present not-for-profit as a home for artists and audiences to discover the joys and risks of theatrical invention in an atmosphere of artistic freedom and camaraderie. Drawing inspiration from the pioneering spirit of Cherry Lane's founders, the current leadership is dedicated to the development of new works by new writers, while also maintaining the Theatre's long-standing role as the home for world premieres by leading dramatists and revivals of landmark works drawn from our rich history. In the past 12 years, more than 50 plays and playwrights have been produced at Cherry Lane. Thirty-seven of these have been new works developed through our Mentor Project, and a significant number have subsequently been staged On- and Off-Broadway, as well as in regional and international theatres. Cherry Lane provides a nurturing community for playwrights and theater artists, both seasoned and emerging, to work together in revealing the social consciousness of a changed world. In this way, we serve the cultural needs of our larger community of New York City while developing a dedicated, returning audience.

Over the course of its history, Cherry Lane has won numerous awards and honors, including, in 1955, the distinction of being the first Off-Broadway theater to win a Tony Award. Most recently, Mentor Project earned a 2008 Obie Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Development of New Work.

Naked in a Fishbowl chronicles the lives of six friends in New York City and delivers "knockout" performances that WCBS calls "Smart, honest, and definitely fearless." Naked in a Fishbowl premiered in the NY International Fringe Festival in 2007. The cast was presented with the Outstanding Ensemble Award and hailed as the "brightest lights of the festival." Since re-launching in 2010, this female comedy troupe has created over 30 original episodes in front of a live theatre audience. The resulting web series has garnered over 250,000 hits online in over 80 countries.
