Michael McElroy to Host Spring Concert Series at the Sheen Center Featuring Broadway Inspirational Voices

BIV and the Sheen Center for Thought and Culture team up to present a May concert music series curated and hosted by Tony and Grammy Award nominee Michael McElroy. The concerts celebrate an array of musical genres and highlight the talents of individual BIV choir members and alumni, all culminating in a live premier presentation from their newest YouTube music series, "Broadway Our Way."

May 1st - GOSPEL FOR ALL - featuring Crystal Monee Hall (RENT; Mickey Hart Band) and Marcus Paul James (Motown; In The Heights; RENT) this concert offers a rousing night of soul-moving music as they share their gospel love and praise.

May 8th - BROADWAY NIGHT - featuring Michael McElroy (Sunday In the Park With George, RENT) and Capathia Jenkins (Disney's NEWSIES; Caroline, or Change). These Broadway veterans and vocal powerhouses bring you their versions of the classics.

May 15th - REAL FOLK - featuring Celisse Henderson (Godspell; Wicked) and Eliseo Roman (On Your Feet; Leap of Faith; In the Heights). Get ready to be brought right on home as they perform a selection of songs from a variety of Folk music styles and hits.

May 22nd - BROADWAY OUR WAY- LIVE. Sit back and prepare to be blown away as Michael McElroy and the Broadway Inspirational Voices perform tunes from their newest YouTube series, Broadway Our Way. The web series celebrates some of Broadway's greatest tunes performed ensemble style with their BIV flair.

Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV) was founded by Tony-nominated Michael McElroy in 1994 as the Broadway Gospel Choir. In 1999 BIV reincarnated to its current name. In 2010 BIV became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide HOPE to INSPIRE and TRANSFORM youth in need through music and The Arts. In addition to numerous solo concerts, the Grammy-nominated choir (for "Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas" on Sh-K-Boom Records) has performed with award-winning artists including Elton John, STING, Jason Mraz, Mariah Carey, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vanessa Williams, Heather Headley, and Billy Porter. Additionally, BIV has been featured on "This Week" with John Oliver, The Miss AmErica Pageant, multiple Tony Awards Telecasts, "America's Got Talent", "Late Night" with David Letterman, NBC's hit show "SMASH", and "The Rosie O'Donnell Christmas Special". They have also played venues like Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Crystal Cathedral, and Constitution Hall. Their second album, "Great Joy II: Around the World" was released in the fall of 2016, along with their new web series, "Broadway Our Way", on YouTube. THE SHEEN CENTER FOR THOUGHT & CULTURE Named after the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, best known for his popular radio and TV ministry in the 1950s and 60s, The Sheen Center is a project of the Archdiocese of New York and showcases works that affirm the highest values of the human spirit through the performing and visual arts, lectures and exhibits. The state-of-the-art complex has a 270-seat proscenium theater equipped with five-camera high-definition Livestream capability and a multi-track recording studio with thirty-two onstage inputs; an 80-seat black box theater; four rehearsal studios; and an art gallery.
