Melissa Ritz received the Best Emerging Actress Award for her one-woman show Journey of a Bombshell: The Ina Ray Hutton Story. Ms. Ritz debuted her show with the United Solo Theatre Festival, the world's largest solo theatre festival, at Theatre Row on 42nd Street in New York City. Her show sold out all 4 performances, which featured music, tap dancing, and 12 characters from Ina's life.

Ina Ray Hutton was the most successful female bandleader of an all-girl orchestra, The Melodears, in the 1930's. Ina found continued success with her all-male orchestra, and was the first woman to have her own TV show in the 1950's Ms. Ritz, an Air Force Veteran, received her BA in Dance and MFA in Theater Performance, both from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She collaborated with New York City-based director Julie Kline. Choreography by Shelby Kaufman and music arrangements by Barry Best. The design team includes costumes by Becky Bodurtha, Janie Bullard on Sound and Gil Sperling on video and projections. Marketing and PR is by Ethan Paulini/EMP13 Marketing.
