Max & Maxine, everyone's favorite self-destructing lounge act, will be returning to NYC this month to perform here for the first time in 12 years. The show, purported to be the "kick-off" of the Vegas-style singing team's selfdescribed "incredible" "Together...Again!" tour, will play at midtown nightspot Don't Tell Mama for 3 performances only. As anyone who witnessed their previous outing in the late 90's will recall, their return could spell triumph or disaster, as little by little during the show, the gloves come off and secrets are revealed. As before, they are accompanied on piano by perennially bitter sidekick, Shecky Sheckenstein.
MAX & MAXINE: TOGETHER AGAIN! was conceived by Gary Adler, Bryan Scott Johnson, and Jennifer Perry when the three were commissioned by the Adirondack Theatre Festival (Martha Banta, Artistic Director, who also directs this production) in 1997 to create a show for ATF's season that year. The show features extant material from the worlds of Broadway and Pop music as well as a number of original songs such as "How's Your Drink," "Happily Married Man," "That Hits the Spot," and "Startin' From Scratch" (supposedly the duo's signature song), among
others. After opening at ATF, MAX & MAXINE: TOGETHER AGAIN! later enjoyed a successful run in NYC at Don't
Tell Mama.
