Serpent Club Theater presents the world premiere of Ardor, the new ensemble drama from wunderkind playwright-director Matthew Gasda.
Ardor is a profound meditation on friendship, love, loss, and the passage of time. A single familiar farmhouse living room is the setting for love triangles, lust, identity crisis, overwhelming loss... no one is excused by the awkwardness of life and death.
Ardor is the fourth play by Matthew Gasda to make its debut in New York 2016, following his original dramas Messages and Denmark and his award-winning adaptation of The Bacchae. Gasda also directed Howard Brenton's 1983 drama, Bloody Poetry, this past August, at The Brooklyn Art Library, and is the author of two well-received novels: Moon on Water and Sonata for Piano and Violin.
This is a can't-miss production by a generational talent: a Vanya for the Millennial generation, staged in the spirit of Peter Brook and Andre Gregory, with a bright, gifted cast of young New York actors.
We hope to see you at this existentially complex, edifying, and poetically rich new work.
