The Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT) announced today that Wicked Frozen! A Musical Parody Mashup of "Wicked" and "Frozen" Written by Two People Who Have Never Seen "Wicked" or "Frozen", returns to the People's Improv Theatre (PIT) this February for four performances only. After an award-sweeping run at the 2014 West Village Musical Theatre Festival last summer, Wicked Frozen! enjoyed a soldout six-show run at the PIT this past November where it was named a Time Out New York Critic's Pick. The fan-favorite musical has been expanded with new songs and scenes for this limited run.
Wicked Frozen is an original musical mashup based on what creators Toby Singer and Zoe Farmingdale imagined Wicked and Frozen to be about, without ever having seen either show. In mythical ScandiNorFinland, two witch- princess sisters, Elsaba and Glindanna, go to magic ice witch princess school for royal people, where they must learn to control their freezing powers. Can the sisters learn to work together? Will the beautiful Prince Ikea come to their rescue? Will the world be destroyed by fossil fuels? What actually happens when Elsaba takes that glove thing off?
The production is directed by Michael Rau (www.michaelrau.com), with musical direction by Toby Singer. The ensemble cast includes Bethany Nicole Taylor, Emily Lessard, Jen Connor, Kathleen Armenti, Lucas Brady, Matt Rogers, Meagan Wells, Will Jacobs, and Zoe Farmingdale.
Wicked Frozen (www.wickedfrozen.com) will run for four performances only at The PIT (123 E. 24th St). Tickets can be purchased for $20 online at thepitnyc.com and at the door. $1 student tickets are available, space permitting. Shows run: Monday, Feb 2, 8pm; Thursday, Feb 5, 8pm; Friday, Feb 6, 8pm; and Monday, Feb 9, 9:30pm.
Be sure to follow the show on Facebook (www.facebook.com/wickedfrozen) and on Twitter and Instagram (@WickedFrozen).
