There's a lotta clowning and running around on stage in Women's Project's action packed, world premiere hit dark comedy Aliens with Extraordinary Skills.  On Tuesday evening (10/14), Natalia Payne, who plays Nadia, a clown from the saddest country on earth, broke her foot during the performance, causing the cancellation of Thursday and Friday performances (Wednesdays are dark).

Performances will resume Saturday evening, October 18, at 8:00pm when Marnye Young takes over the role.  Aliens with Extraordinary Skill runs through Sunday, October 26, at Women's Project, 424 West 55th Street.

Aliens with Extraordinary Skill, by Romanian poet, journalist and playwright Saviana Stanescu and directed by award-winning theater artist and Bosnian emigre Tea Alagic, opened September 30 to rave reviews.

"Marnye Young is the new 'alien' with extraordinary skills," said Women's Project Producing Director Julie Crosby when making the announcement.  "She is familiar with Ms. Stanescu's work, having been featured in her Waxing West at La MaMa last year and having participated in readings of Aliens with Extraordinary Skills during its two-year long development at Women's Project.  On Saturday night, the show will go on."

Ms. Young joins cast members Shirine Babb, Seth Fisher, Gian-Murray Gianino, Kevin Isola and Jessica Pimentel.

Women's Project produces theater created by women, providing a forum for women's perspectives on political, social, and cultural topics.  Founded in 1978 to address the conspicuous under-representation of women in the American theater, countless artists have achieved significant recognition at WP, including Anne Bogart, Eve Ensler, Lynn Nottage, Maria Irene Fornes, Leigh Silverman, Suzan-Lori Parks, and Anna Deavere Smith. In its 30 years, WP has staged over 570 productions, and in 1998, WP purchased a historic off-Broadway venue--the Julia Miles Theater--making WP the first and only women's theater company to hold the keys to its own stage.

Tickets are $15-42 and are on sale now at Telecharge www.Telecharge.com or 212.239.6200.  The Women's Project box office at 424 West 55th Street opens today (9/15)   To become a WP member, click www.WomensProject.org or call the Members Hotline at 212.765.2105.
