Manhattan Shakespeare Project, Manhattan's All-Female Shakespeare Company, presents MACBETH: The Unsex Me Here Project, directed by Amanda Boekelheide, with preview performances beginning tonight, April 1st prior to an official press opening of April 5th at the Access Theater Gallery (380 Broadway) in Manhattan.

For the first time in the company's five year history, Manhattan Shakespeare Project has cast men (three in total) alongside the women (again, for MACBETH, three in total) but it will be up to each audience to decide which actor or actress portrays which iconic character.

The cast of MACBETH: The Unsex Me Here Project features Sarah Eismann, Claire Kennedy, Amanda Boekelheide, Jordan Laroya, Rob McFadyen, and Brandon Petty.

MACBETH: The Unsex Me Here Project is a fast paced, high flying take on William Shakespeare's "Scottish Play" where the gender of the actor's playing the iconic characters of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Duncan, the Witches, etc is up-in-the-air. Each night the audience will have the ability to decide the gender of each of the characters, thereby making conscience what is unconscious about gender constructs - one of Manhattan Shakespeare Project's primary goals as a company.

The production and design team for MACBETH: The Unsex Me Here Project is Rachel A. Jerome (stage manager), Antonio Consuegra (tech designer - costumes, set and props), Jordan Laroya (fight director), Michael Mullen (flight trainer), Jacob Subotnick (sound designer) and Samantha Davis (lighting designer).

Manhattan Shakespeare Project is a Shakespeare community committed to fostering the development of the female artist. We explore and create vital and currently viable theatre in four areas: Shakespeare, New Works, International Outreach and Education - for more information about Manhattan Shakespeare Project, visit www.manhattanshakes.org.

Presented tonight, April 1 through April 19, MACBETH: The Unsex Me Here Project performs Wednesdays through Sundays at 8pm at the Access Theatre Gallery (380 Broadway). Tickets are $18 and are available for purchase through BrownPaperTickets.com (http://mbunsexmehere.bpt.me).
