Little Pea's Revolution is set to head to New York as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival!

Little Pea has just turned twelve and is terrified of what she is to become - who she is. So terrified, in fact, that she locks herself in Gramma's in-law suite during her birthday party, and imagines an escape route where she doesn't have to face the next chapter of her life: facing the death of her grandmother, and becoming a woman. Through interactions with her older cousin, her mother, her grandmother, and her best friend, Little Pea questions her inheritance, and explores her political, sexual, and mixed racial identity, all to answer one of life's most important questions: Is it better to be the Princess or the Pea?" A Canadian soiree of a little girl's journey to her own self.

"After the death of my paternal grandmother, I realized that I was losing a connection to a past that would never again be recovered, and it suddenly become important to ask questions about my own identity, and cultural inheritance," says creator Laura Quigley. "I was also curious to explore moments in our lives where we make decisions about ourselves, especially as a woman. Little Pea is the culmination of this research. I am ecstatic that the United Solo Festival in New York will be the World Premiere for this work. Solo performance is an incredibly important and exciting form of theatre, and it's thrilling to be a part of a festival of international solo work."
