La Mama will present Ellen Foley and Robert I Rubinsky's CLUB DADA (IN DIFFICULT TIMES): an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza with a sprinkle of bad taste, bawdy and not so bawdy humor mixed with Sympatico pathos and surrealistic bathos as two ancient vaudevillians try to hide their show biz scars - slaves to wounded egos, age and outside forces.
Watch them do what show biz people do when they have nothing else to do: hang in a surreal Dada world, somewhere outside time and space. A duo lost, trapped by memories of past glory and by outside forces, they keep on belting out tunes and hoofing their way into eternity and maybe even your hearts. Ot else. This is CLUB DADA. And these ARE difficult times. Spend 75 minutes in Club Dada at La MaMa and you'll beg to return.
Ellen Foley & ROBERT I RUBINSKY are Club Dada. With over 300 years of professional experience between them, including Ellen's turn as "Stop Right There" on the gazillion selling 'Paradise By the Dashboard Light', and Robert's original cast turn in 'Hair', and 'Jesus Christ Superstar' -they now set their sights on the world of the surreal.
Ellen Foley has been in some form of show business longer than she can remember. The thing that never dies, and she's glad of it, is Paradise by the Dashboard Light with Meat Loaf. Through it she remains a horny teenager forever.CLUB DADA (in difficult times)
