After April 2010's innovative Mind the Art Anthology which featured the three distinct works: What If?, Die & TE'A Under The Veil, Mind The Art returns to La Mama E.T.C. to explore two brand new works encompassing everything from a poetic comedic look at philosophy through performance art, to a reflective piece dealing with the loss of the self in an image oriented world. These works are created to entertain while challenging the status quo of your thinking and rebelling against your own sense of purpose and reality.

Featuring:

A Woman In Progress
Written and Performed by Keelie A. Sheridan
Directed by Alessio Cappelletti

@ The Club
La Mama E.T.C.
January 21st & 22nd @ 10pm

A Woman in Progress explores the themes of distorted beauty, the thin and often invisible line between self-improvement and self-mutilation and the role that the mother-daughter relationship plays in a girl's development of her sense of self-image. This one-woman piece, written and performed by Keelie A. Sheridan follows a woman named Helen through three stages of her "progress." A portion of the proceeds of A Woman In Progress will be donated to A Chance to Heal 501(c)(3).

Join the class of the beloved Mr. Buttermen (a wonderfully disturbed man that lives in the park) as he leads us on a journey of learning. His Fables teach us the importance of being a moral adult in the modern world with classic stories such as Petey the Impotent Rabbit and The Tortoise and the Gin. Come see these original beloved tales as they are told through the magic of music, poetry, theater, film, dance and performance art. Don't miss the opportunity to once again giggle as a school child.

Tickets are $13-$18 and are available at www.lamama.org or by phone at 212-475-7710
