LE GRAND VOYAGE to Premiere In NYC ImagePremiering at the end of February, Le Grand Voyage is a joint work of a New York based team of actors gathered to explore and develop a show in the genre of theatrical clown. This new experimental piece tells the story of a family that goes in search of adventures in a foreign country. What awaits them is predictably strange and at the same time, surprisingly familiar. In the language of theatrical clown, actors tell the story of the hustles and struggles we go through when faced with the new and the unknown.

Throughout our lives we all make various journeys and transformations, literal and figurative. Each of these present obstacles, challenges, rewards and more journeys. Clowns are simpletons, naive childlike versions of ourselves. They don't speak, don't know much, though sometimes they think they do. They're always faced with a dilemma but never phased by one. A migrant is someone armed only with hope, someone who's ripped out of their life and stuck in a new country, city, culture, and in the process unwillingly becomes a clown.

The project was initiated by composer and clown Alex Ryaboy, in collaboration with director Aelita West, and with the support and participation of producer Anya Zicer and founder of Lost & Found Project. Aelita West is a clown, who has been one of the main performers in the famous SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW by Slava Polunin for two decades. She spent her entire adult life playing on stage. In Russia, she was a member of the MTYUZ troupe under the direction of G.N. Yanovskaya and K. Ginkas, theater of Improvisation O. Kiseleva, and also played in many films and television shows. Aelita conducts workshops on clowning and stage movement in New York and around the world. She is pleased to share her unique theater style with this talented group of artists.

Le Grand Voyage features Ronit Asheri, an Israeli actress set to appear in the upcoming Netflix series "Unorthodox"; Sergey Nagorny, a founding member of Lost & Found Project and whose theater credits include "Jackson Heights: 3AM", "Ask Joseph"; Tatyana Kot, who is a member of theater company Blessed Unrest and Nylon Fusion; as well as Dimitri Koan, Ruta Pauliukaityte, Alex Ryaboy, Noam Sandler and Anya Zicer.

Le Grand Voyage opens on February 26th and runs through March 1st, at Theatre for The New City @ 155 1st Avenue, New York, NY
