LARVAE Comes to the Alchemical Theatre  ImageLARVAE Wakes Up Alchemical Theatre Starting August 30th LARVAE, a new play by Kelsey Torstveit with incidental music by David Bird will be presented at the Alchemical Theatre Laboratory (104 West 14th Street) starting August 30th. Will Detlefsen directs. The cast features Kelsey Torstveit*and Joe Pietropaolo.*(member of Actors Equity)

An absurdist rendering of the Adam and Eve story, the play personifies two larvae that have just hatched from a pearly white egg. After experiencing some of the simple joys of being, their fundamental needs begin to take over. The male, ever the more practical, is driven by his urge for food while the female desires to make a baby. Together they discover a few of the secrets of life in the moments that pass. All the while they are readying themselves to take on the ultimate unknown and learn what lies in store for each of them on the other side of the Chrysalis: the future!

LARVAE will take place at Alchemical Theatre Laboratory (104 West 14th Street, corner of 6th Avenue) beginning Thursday August 30th at 8PM. The show schedule isThursday August 30th thru Sunday September 2nd at 8PM. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at larvaetheplay.brownpapertickets.com. A dollar from every ticket sold will go to The National Butterfly Center in Mission, Texas to plant a willow tree in their Butterfly Garden.
