Kimberly Faye Greenberg (One Night With Fanny Brice) will star in Beautiful Soup Theater's upcoming American premiere of LIFT. A smash hit at London's SoHo Theatre, LIFT played to sold out crowds earlier this year in a production from Pitch Perfect Musicals. It makes its New York bow in a new production directed by Steven Carl McCasland.
With an electric score by Craig Adams and a fascinating libretto by Ian Watson, LIFT is an exceptional new musical. According to press notes, LIFT "is an ambitious and daring new musical about possibility. When, eight people get in a LIFT at Covent Garden tube station on an ordinary morning, everything will change. They may be complete strangers, but in some way they are all connected and if they reached out to one another they might just change their lives forever. LIFT is about people and connections. The connections we have without knowing, the connections we lose sight of and the connections we don't mean to have."
Kimberly Faye Greenberg is the first an only actress to perform leading roles in two Off-Broadway musicals at the same time. She is best known for her critically acclaimed solo performance in One Night With Fanny Brice, and her three-year run as Slyvia Fine in Danny and Sylvia: The Danny Kaye Musical.
Greenberg, who will play The French Teacher, is joined by Randall Glen Taylor as Bright Young Thing, Dana Feinberg as The Lap Dancer, Erin Elizabeth Eichhorn as The Secretary and Samantha Mercado-Tudda as The American Tourist. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. Original West End LIFT cast member Julie Atherton (Avenue Q, Mamma Mia!) lends her voice to an unseen role.
LIFT will play The Richmond Shepard Theatre beginning tonight, November 13th through November 24th, with musical direction by Will Shuler. Tickets are available now at http://beautifulsoup.showclix.com.
