Wade Jennings presents Blatantly Blaine - A New "Family" Musical
Hollywood's most despicable reality TV family reunited, at The People's Improv Theater.
October 6 through November 12
The writers that brought you the sold out performances of The Disembodied Hand that Fisted Everyone to Death return to The People's Improv Theater to present their most hilarious work yet. The world premiere of Blatantly Blaine will open October 6 and run through November 12.
Blatantly Blaine is the story of a washed-up reality TV producer fresh out of ideas. To get back in the game, he decides to reunite the horrible reality TV family that originally brought him fame, and to extract the secret that split them all apart years ago. He decides to get them to confess the only way he knows how: under stress. After reuniting the family for what they think is a one-night special, the producer stages an attack on Beverly Hills, by the world's most notorious death cult - ISIS! Drug addiction, questionable sexual choices, and general debauchery ensue with a family whose names could all start with K - but they start with B.
Anderson Cook (Book & Lyrics) & Amanda D'Archangelis (Music & Lyrics) are proud to continue their legacy of musical theater that is too hysterically reprehensible to be seen by all ages. Their writing brings to life the worst realities of Hollywood faux celebrity fame and all that comes with it: leaked tapes, the right selfie angle, and a little bag filled with white magic.
The Blaines' audience is encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to curtain time. The People's Improv Theatre has a full service bar in the lobby where guests may enjoy a drink before or during the production. Many theatre-goers will want a drink to help swallow the shade, show tunes, and attitudes of the Blaine "family" reunion.
"I found the archetypes of the family really interesting. It's almost Grecian the strict, specific roles that they have, and I was really excited to see how we could put those archetypes to work in a contemporary setting," notes Anderson Cook(Book & Lyrics)
Amanda D'Archangelis (Music & Lyrics) comments, "Everyone's a hero. Everyone's a villain. There's just so much duality in it all. And at the end of the day I just love Kylie lips kits."
"By the end of it I actually started to like my own family," admits Audience Member.
Blatantly Blaine is directed by Joel Kirk, produced by Wade Jennings, and features Monica Ramirez as Blake Blaine, Morissa Trunzo as Bryn Blaine, Kelly Krauter as Britney Blaine, Francesca Ferrari* as Blythe Blaine, Caleb Donahoe* as Jeremy Blaine, Chris Renalds as Trevor, Dunch Gregory as Kit, Jacob Grover as Dan Theman, Chris Ramirez as* as Barnaby, and Zoe Schneider-Smith as Female Swing.
