Virtuosic performer Kali Quinn will perform her newest solo performance. Overture to a Thursday Morning is a suspenseful and inspiring journey that questions the will to go on and who to take with you. The play tours to Vermont after a successful run in NYC and Rochester:
"Kali brings her customary grace, whimsy and beautifully calibrated performance skills to a piece that is funny, moving, and filled with the delight of performance, storytelling, and memory."Quinn plays Lila, a character who smokes, listens to Talking Heads and wants to be a violin rock star, but unwanted discoveries push her toward the secret truth about her own birth. A clash of 1950's nostalgia, visual poetry, and contemporary angst are all explored through real-time musical composition, physical tragic comedy, and common household objects. Quinn invites you:
"It's amazing how much we all don't know about our own births and mother/daughter relationships are like nothing else. Please come see the performance to share in, ponder, and celebrate these things. Bring your mom for an early Mother's Day!"
Locally, Quinn has worked with New England Center for Circus Arts, Vermont Academy, The Bellows Falls Opera House, The Putney School Summer Programs, New England Youth Theatre, and at Williams College:
"Extraordinary skill and imagination... deeply affecting." - Berkshire Review for the ArtsQuinn has as performed in Guatemala, Brazil and throughout the United States. She currently works at the University of Rochester, serves on the Board of the Network of Ensemble Theaters, and works as the Program and Marketing Coordinator for Accademia Dell'Arte <http://www.dell-arte.org/> in Arezzo, Italy.
