Symphony Space brings the Tony-nominated cabaret singer and author of Tango: My Childhood, Backwards and in High Heels, to the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater for a special evening of reading, music and performance hosted by writer and performer Mike Albo.

After years of weaving funny stories between songs onstage, Mx. Bond has written them down in a memoir, Tango. Raised in suburban Maryland, Justin is surprised when the bully next door wants to meet secretly, and they develop a sexual relationship fresh out of the Boy Scouts. Framed in the present, Mx. Bond discovers that this lover from childhood has been remanded into a mental institution, sending V in a journey back to childhood to address this childhood relationship. With simplicity, lots of humor, and compassion this daring literary debut conjures the drama of growing up queer/trans in America.

The Symphony Space evening with Mx. Bond will include readings from Tango, music, and a special opportunity for Bond's fans to ask questions in an extended Q&A. The evening will be hosted by writer and performer Mike Albo who will also conduct an interview with Mx. Bond. Additional special guest to be announced.

Singer, songwriter and Tony-nominated performer, Justin Vivian Bond is an Obie, Bessie and Ethyl Eichelberger Award winner. As one half of the performance duo Kiki and Herb, Bond has toured the world, headlining at Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and London's Queen Elizabeth Hall, and starring in Kiki and Herb on Broadway. Film credits include a role in John Cameron Mitchell's feature Shortbus. Bond recently released a record, Dendrophile, and is writing a play with Sandra Bernhard.
Symphony Space is located at 2537 Broadway at 95th Street in Manhattan, NYC. Ticket prices for Justin Vivian Bond are $25 (members $21); 30 and under $15 . To learn more about this season's performers, visit http://www.symphonyspace.org or call 212.864.5400.
