From the co-creator of the indie-vaudeville conceptual art-rock pop band, Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, comes a new, modern-day medical musical, Dr. Glassheart. Jason Trachtenburg, creator and composer of Dr. Glassheart, promises "unimpeachable musical comedy coverage for all." There are two performances scheduled in Manhattan at The Tank, November 10th and 11th at 7pm. See below for venue and ticket details.

"'Dr. Glassheart' exposes the 'health-care' industry for what it is....laughable!" says Trachtenburg.

Dr. Glassheart features ten original, fully orchestrated compositions style after the Big-Band swing sound with songwriting akin to classic Great American Songbook. It stars a cast of downtown luminaries whose collective credits include: S.N.L., Conan O'Brian, MTV, VH1, Edinburgh Fringe, Off-Broadway, Off-West End, T.E.D., Lincoln Center, Shakespeare in the Park, Rev. Billy, and many more. Players are: Mike Amato as The President of the United States of America, and Police Officer #1; Miz Stefani as Nadine, the Nurse: Joe Crow Ryan as Rico, from Puerto Rico; Andrew Hoepfner as Dr. Glassheart, M.D.;Stefanie Clouse as Ronna the Receptionist; Jason Trachtenburg as The Narrator. Korey Caron directs.

A brief synopsis of Dr. Glassheart describes a doctor, a nurse, a secretary/receptionist, a patient who's a Viet-Nam/Gulf War Vet, and the President-Elect, who all get caught up in "The System." But the good doctor checks out, and it's up to his dutiful nurse, Nadine, to reel him back in, a task that's complicated by a nasty love triangle that's developed between the doctor, the nurse, and the secretary/receptionist. Enter, the patient, who suffers from P.T.S.D., M.S.N.B.C., and P.B.R. While successfully saving the Magical Garden from condominium development by a President-Elect who is on the take from the housing developers, the patient offers the audience the finest of all medical advice, "Patient, heal thyself....with laughter!" He eventually becomes the co-Vice President-Elect of our fine country.

Jason Trachtenburg and his wife, Tina Piña Trachtenburg, founded the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players in Seattle, after buying a bunch of slides and a projector at a garage sale in Seattle in the 1990s. The slides of strangers and the stories they told became the basis for their act, which included Jason (on keyboards and vocals) and Tina (on slide show and backup vocals) and their daughter, Rachel Trachtenburg on drums, who joined the band when she was only six years old. The family moved to New York City and the band created a sensation in New York clubs. They appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and attracted considerable attention from NPR and other major international news outlets.

Jason Trachtenburg plans to mount Dr. Glassheart with a full off-off-Broadway run in the near future.
