After playing the old school Italian father, the all American not-so-good boy next door, and many more international roles, Galata' comes back on the New York stage as Alvares, the Spanish Governor of the Happycurean Island with the world Premiere of CAPTAIN FILTHY FRED, opening June 21st at La MaMa Ellen Stewart Theatre

A new musical comedy about crime, deceit, and a little bit of romance, CAPTAIN FILTHY FRED is a fast-moving outlandish Hungarian-American musical based on the best-selling pulp fiction book "Dirty Fred, The Captain", by Jeno Rejto, a Hungarian Jewish writer who died in a work camp during WWII. The storyline takes the audience to the darkest corners of an underworld filled with gangsters, con-artists, beautiful bad girls, a rich prince and a mysterious freedom-loving guardian angel. From harbor pubs where sailors fight, to the Happycurean Island where dreams, love and intrigue blossom.

The score was written by Marika Barnett and Istvan Ver, longtime members of the Boston Playwrights' Platform. Music composed by Alan Wurman, recipient of the Grand Prize on MTV's Ourstage. Music arranged by Victor Kong, right hand man to Jerome Leroy, who has orchestrated many movies including The Hunger Games and The Housemaid. Directed by Timea Zsedely.
