Isaac Oliver, Delilah Dix, and More to Perform at Ars Nova, 3/1-30

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) announces a packed March lineup featuring exciting new comedy, music, and theater programming.(All shows are at 8pm and tickets are $15 unless otherwise noted)

Intimacy Idiot by Isaac Oliver, gay playwright and pale neurotic, hits the stage solo in a hilarious and heartfelt evening of stories, love poems, and rants from his blog, He Who Laughs, or The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Intimacy. He will perform Thursday, 3/1. 

Delilah Dix—America’s Showgirl!is in jail and needs to plead her case (through songs, gowns, and euphemisms for her lady parts). Join Delilah and her parole officer in a trip down memory lane from her first audition to her current status as a showbiz superstar in this brand new hour of stories and original songs. Co-created by Cody Owen Stine and directed by Peter Michael Marino. She will perform Friday 3/2.

"Everything Goes! A Burlesque and Broadway Revue" bridges uptown class and downtown irreverence in an unprecedented dance extravaganza featuring scintillating burlesquers, Broadway belters, aerial and variety artists and a smattering of good old fashioned shenanigans. This performs Saturday, 3/3.

"The Song Arcade" is a rotating collection of musicians shares songs, pairs off in first time collaborations and accepts musical challenges from the audience in this jam session/game night mash-up, making this the coolest way to experience the best up-and-coming singer/songwriters in the city! This edition features Drew Citron, Drew Gaspirini, Molly Hager, Paul Maddison, Jay Stolar and Katie Thompson. Hosted by Grace McLean and directed by Tim Drucker. This will perform Friday, 3/9.

 "Pepper ‘N Sam: Whatever Possessed Them?" stars Pepper Mills (Salty Brine) and Play-it-Again Sam (Justin Levine) are a virtuosic rock n' roll-vaudeville act that was semi-famous before their tragic demise in a blazing theater fire. Stuck playing the purgatory circuit for over 80 years with their paranormal backing band, The Dead Poets Society, these lost souls have toured Heaven and tempted Hell, and now they're back from the grave with new music, new bodies, and a new outlook on life. And death. Audiences will be haunted by the ghosts, ghouls, apparitions, Pepper & Sam. Performances are Thursday, 3/15; Friday, 3/16; Thursday 3/22; Friday 3/23.

Part of Ars Nova’s Project Residency initiative to help artists get unique projects off the ground:

THE NOISE plays a 7pm reading Monday, 3/26, for free. In this story, Ellie is falling in love with Amos. But the deeper she falls, the more she is seduced by the Noise that visits her at night, drawing her further and further into her fears. Ellie's father is hard at work on his garden, lost in his own past and leaving his new wife, Janice, stranded between father and daughter. A poignant new play that asks, what do you do with the void that a serious loss leaves behind, and how do you live with the fear of losing again? By Rachel Bonds, Directed by Portia Krieger.

"Artificial Traveler" performs Tuesday, 3/27 and Wednesday, 3/28 for $20. Comedian Ethan Sandler has prepared a survival kit for his family. It’s built to last five days. So they'll have five days to make it to the ocean. This is the story of those days. And a man named Robert Edward Webster may or may not have shot JFK. And Bigfoot is coming. Directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell).

"Showgasm" performs Thursday 3/29. Tickets are $5 at door which opens at 7:30pm Ars Nova’s rowdy monthly variety party/show features fresh music, comedy, theater, burlesque, vaudeville and a whole lot more. Featuring host Molly Coogan, and house band Fenster. Additional performers to be announced.

"The Burning Bush Vs. The Second Coming – Round 2!" performs Thursday, 3/30 and Friday, 3/31; tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Doors open at 7:30pm, show at 8pm.

New York’s juicy Jewish burlesque all-stars, The Schlep Sisters, take on the singing and dancing dynamic duo from Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow, Maddy Mann and Lexi Miller, in a no-holds-barred Passover vs. Easter burlesque battle! The illegitimate son, Bastard Keith, will keep the girls in check to ensure everyone plays nice. Ars Nova calls it, "the spiritual scrimmage of the century."
