Infinite Productions presents the critically acclaimed play THIS IS CANCER - written by & starring Bruce Horak, co-written & directed by Rebecca Northan (currently seen in the critically acclaimed BLIND DATE), musical direction by Waylen Miki, choreography by Sarah Robichaud and creative consultant Patrick R. Brown for one performance only on Sunday, December 19 at 10:00pm at the Ars Nova Building (511 West 54th Street). Admission is FREE - for reservations please email RSVP@BlindDateNYC.com.

In THIS IS CANCER, Cancer - a deluded, egotistical ass, portrayed by Bruce Horak - gives the cabaret performance of a lifetime! Watch as Cancer goes on his own journey of denial, anger, bargaining and acceptance when he discovers that the whole world hates him. A cancer survivor himself - Mr. Horak, one of Canada's only legally blind professional actors, brings a fresh and funny perspective to a disease that too many of us will face and that so many of us could use a good laugh at.

Nominated for Outstanding Performance of a Musical or Comedy and winner of Outstanding Actor in a Musical or Comedy for Mr. Horak (Betty Mitchell Awards, Calgary, 2007) THIS IS CANCER has played to critical acclaim throughout Canada and the west coast. The Edmonton Journal said, "This is Cancer is as genius as it is absurd, with a satisfyingly violent climax. The silliness is rife but doesn't overshadow the catharsis. Allow this remarkable show to spread all over your body. You'll do more than survive." See Magazine said, "This Is Cancer mixes a potent cocktail of comedy, pathos, sarcasm and genuine emotion. There is a charge in the air during Cancer's audience interactions. If you have ever wanted to confront Cancer about that last time he showed up, take your chance. But be warned...Cancer has some serious balls." And Stephen Hunt of The Calgary Herald said, "The wildest, most thrilling ride you'll take in a theatre."

Bruce Horak (written by & starring) is a Cancer survivor (bilateral retinoblastoma) and an actor, writer, director and musician who currently resides in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is the recipient of the Betty Mitchell Award for Outstanding Performance in a Musical or Comedy for his work in THIS IS CANCER. He has worked across Canada with Vancouver's Monster Theatre, a Fringe Festival favorite, and has had the great fortune to work with and for many companies across Canada, including: Lighthouse Festival Theatre (Port Dover), The Georgian Theatre Festival (Meaford, Ontario), Hectik Theatre (Regina), Nakai Theatre (Whitehorse), Workshop West (Edmonton), Alberta Theatre Projects, Quest Theatre, and Theatre Calgary (Calgary).

Rebecca Northan (co-writer & director) is a Canadian actor, improviser, theatre director, and creative artist, and can currently be seen in her show BLIND DATE at Ars Nova. She is known for playing the hippie mother Diane Macleod on the CTV & Comedy Network sitcom "Alice, I Think." Other credits include: Comedy Network's "The Joe Blow Show (Gemini Award nominee); the films THE ROCKER (opposite Jane Lynch & Christina Applegate) and MR. MAGORIUM'S WONDER EMPORIUM (opposite Dustin Hoffman & Natalie Portman). Northan has worked in theatres across Canada.
