Mondays DArk Theatre Company ("Mondays Dark") today announced the new play IF YOU START A FIRE [BE PREPARED TO BURN] will open its 2012 season in New York City. The play will run from tonight, September 14th - September 23rd at the 45th Street Theater, located at 354 W. 45th St. in Manhattan. IF YOU START A FIRE [BE PREPARED TO BURN] is an internet sex comedy for the recession generation by Kevin Kautzman that follows a young couple, Chris and Lucy, as they search for unusual, sexually charged ways to survive the difficulties of the Recession, with consequences both hilarious and shocking.

The production will be directed by Mondays Dark co-founder and resident director Kenny Howard. Mr. Howard is a current producer of the Broadway production of EVITA and Tony Award Winning revival of THE GERSHWIN'S PORGY AND BESS. The production will feature One Life to Live alumnus Lenny Platt with Spencer Rose, and costume design by Project Runway finalist Joshua McKinley.

"We are thrilled to present IF YOU START A FIRE as Mondays DArk Theatre Company's first-ever production," stated Anthony Johnson, Mondays Dark Artistic Director. "The energy and inventiveness that this show offers, coupled with the opportunity to introduce a brilliant emerging playwright to New York's unparalleled theatre community, is exactly what we hope to present audiences for years to come."

It seems appropriate my first production in New York will come from a company making its own debut, and I look forward to a fruitful creative partnership."

Founded by Rob Hinderliter, Anthony Johnson and Dominick LaRuffa, Jr., Mondays Dark is a not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to the development of new talent (writers, directors, designers and actors) and the production of new works that provoke, inspire and entertain audiences.
