Horse Trade Theater Group Announces Holiday Events

The East Village's greatest annual Holiday party/show extravaganza returns to UNDER St. Mark's for it's 5th glorious year. Hosted by Joe Yoga and featuring a set by the world's greatest Rock and Roll band, Coach, this year's promises to be the greatest one yet! 

Featuring a Steely Dan dance party from 8-9pm, a double-blind Secret Santa: bring a gift/get a gift, surprise guests, raffle prizes, and free cupcakes! 

 

Looking for fun that is exciting, yet natural? Well here’s your chance! Bedlam Ensemble’s Naturally Delicious improv troupe is here to provide you with a barrel of laughs! Like the whole foods of comedy, this troupe will allow you to have a great time without any of the preservatives or controls of a normal comedy group. 

 

Stand Up and Take Your Clothes Off is a fast paced, sexy show, bursting with talent. Each month will feature NYC's funniest female comics and sassiest burlesque acts. 

 

Whether it is searching for the perfect date, finding a job or simply making the world a better place, Brittany, Adam and Rob are ON A MISSION and each month you can be part of it. The bi-monthly show features great sketch comedy, wonderful & eclectic guests, audience interaction pieces and of course The Mission.

 

The Skinny is a political comedy talk show with a twist: The host, Peter DeGiglio, is just an average schnook struggling to wrap his head around the events that shape our world. Joining him is a discussion panel of real life experts and a plethora of wacky variety acts.

 

Sketch Comedy meets Block Party. This monthly show features a guest host comedian, three guest sketch troupes and drinking. Come meet, mingle, and perform! 

 

A showcase for independent and established improv teams. For each show, two teams join Thank You, Robot to perform sets of unscripted comedy, never seen before and never to be seen again. 

 

 

RadioTheatre's own adaptations of classic tales of terror, adventure, science fiction and more, complete with a great cast of storytellers, an original orchestral score and a plethora of sound effects. We're c*ckrocking the NPR crowd with the best underground comedy, storytelling, burlesque and sideshow acts. This whole thing (and all of everything) is about getting together and getting EXCITED – just turn your phones off and shout it out loud.

 

Moth storytelling favorite, Adam Wade, has put together many of his winning heartfelt and humorous stories for a special show. He’ll also sing a few songs, and play video shorts. No two shows will be the same. A different featured guest will start the evening off. 

 

TOLD is a monthly storytelling show hosted by Seth Lind. Each month New York's best performers take the stage to tell true stories related to a central theme. A special guest provides interludes to glue the evening together into a collective experience. 

 

Raconteurs regale the audience with true stories from their lives while The BTK Band, NYC’s hardest-drinking improvised storytelling rock band, improvises music and lyrics to turn their stories into songs. As if Tom Waits and The Moth delivered a baby from the gaping maw of Chaos. 

 

 

A monthly nude literary salon featuring in-the-buff readings by local burlesque luminaries, professional librarians, authors and other Naked Girls.

 

Wasabassco Burlesque presents their most adult show ever! Step through the gates of this exclusive club for a monthly erotic salon, curated to cater to your most sophisticated and lustful desires.

 

 

Spoken word artists, musicians, comedians, and other creative folks are invited to put their two cents in at this weekly gathering hosted by Penny Pollak. 

 

Slash Wednesday is a wonderfully riveting and irresistibly weird lunch time talk show for artists hosted by award-winning PBS writer/storyteller Slash Coleman. Infusing NYC’s hip east village stage with a distinct blend of southern charm, the show features live music, multi-media, comedy, inspirational interviews with cutting-edge artists and profound stories of success by cultural change makers.

 

Do you have what it takes to be a cabaret champion? Contestants compete for the chance to star in their own show or cabaret. Come out and join the fun! Whether you are a contestant or in the audience you are guaranteed to have a blast. 

 

 

The Drafts are the resident acting ensemble of Horse Trade Theater Group supporting the work of its artistic community. Committed to new play development, The Drafts monthly reading series has featured over 100 original scripts and inspired several full productions. This month will feature readings of Bedtime by Michael Wolfson and Dancing in Captivity by Phoebe Farber, both directed by MaryBeth Smith. 

 

Six playwrights and directors get a week and a half to write and rehearse a short play based around three conditions, a theme, and a pre-selected cast, and then its go time. Different playwrights and directors featured every month.

 

HORSE TRADE THEATER GROUP is a self-sustaining theater development group; with a focus on new work that has produced a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater. Horse Trade’s Resident Artist Program offers a home to a select group of Independent theater artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy. It is also the home of FRIGID New York – the first and only festival of its kind in New York City. In 2011 Horse Trade received the New York Innovative Theatre Ellen Stewart Stewardship Award for demonstrating a significant contribution to the Off-Off-Broadway community through service, support and leadership.
