Hoffman & McKay Head BIG GAY VARIETY SHOW at The Box 3/3

Comedian Jackie Hoffman ("Hairspray") and pop singer Nellie McKay (seen on Broadway in "Threepenny Opera") to be among the performers at the second annual BIG GAY VARIETY SHOW hosted by the New York Civil Liberties Union Young Professionals at the exclusive burlesque club The Box, 189 Chrystie St., on Tuesday, March 3 with doors opening at 7 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit the LGBT work of the NYCLU. The NYCLU is one of New York State's leading advocates for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender New Yorkers. NYCLU's current LGBT work includes fighting for marriage fairness; GENDA, the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act; and the Dignity for all Students Act, which protects LGBT youth. The NYCLU is New York's foremost advocate of individual rights. It fights discrimination and moves public opinion on LGBT rights through the courts, legislature and public education so that one day our state can be the standard-bearer on LGBT rights nationwide.

In addition to Hoffman and McKay, the night will also include performances by trans singer-songwriter Our Lady J (named one of Out Magazine's 2008 Out 100), actor and illusionist Michael Carbonaro (Another Gay Movie), comedienne Poppi Kramer ("The Biggest Loser"), comedian Vidur Kapur (New Now Next Award nominee), YouTube sensations the VGL Boys, award-winning cabaret act Mel and El, the juggling Sizzle Twins, Sean Curran Dance Company and the Misnomer Dance Company. The evening will be emceed by Mr. Showbiz Murray Hill and multiple award-winning DJ Brenda Black will be spinning before and after the show.

The evening will feature an open bar all night, thousands of dollars worth of raffle prizes, a live auction, go-go dancers and other surprise guests.
