Heather Ehlers, long-time stage actress, will present her solo work, Spin, to audiences in New York and Los Angeles this Fall. Spin is fifteen years in the making, and will perform at the Electric Lodge in Venice, CA, October 27-30, and as part of the United Solo Festival in New York City on November 12.
Spin is a hilarious, brutally honest play of transcendence via sex, love and spirituality. Ehlers catches herself every fifteen years in three distinct phases of womanhood, spinning in and out of stories from ages fifteen, thirty, and forty-five. She struggles with issues of identity and first love as a foreign exchange student. She is transformed through pregnancy and natural childbirth labor. And, she has a passionate affair that destroys her marriage and ultimately breaks her heart, bringing her back to herself with a new connection to spirit.
Throughout this tour-de-farce of feminine ferocity, Ehlers unabashedly shares her personal experiences as she rediscovers forgiveness and faith. Heather Ehlers has worked as a professional actress for over twenty-five years, appearing on Broadway in Born Yesterday, off-Broadway in Paradise for the Worried, Educating Rita, and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, as well as in theaters across the country.
