On the eve of Haberdasher's tenth season, they will present the workshop production of Savor a multimedia dance piece from creator and choreographer Quincy Ellis with music by Sam Ellis. An amazing group of artist have come together to delve into the universal experience of grief, and share what they have found.

Inspired from Quincy Ellis' own experience with grief, Savor follows the lives of five friends (Brittany Young, Collin Frazier, Joseph Dale Harris, Haleigh Larmer, Sandra Passirani) after the tragic death of their friend Jed (Sam Ellis), a youthful and talented musician. After his death, his closest friends struggle with their own individual sense of loss and longing. Through projected film and animation elements, dance, and live music, the drama of Jed's friends unfolds to the tunes of one of the last shows he played before his death.

This is a story about life in the face of loss. It's an exploration of the process in which we mourn our loved ones...of the fantasies we create around them, the memories we relive with them, and the prospect of a continuing relationship after they pass. What does it mean to die?...and in reflection, what does it mean to live?

With this production Haberdasher Theatre New York has partnered with The TEARS Foundation, a non-for-profit organization that help families who have recently lost a child during pregnancy, at birth, or during the first year of infancy. Haberdasher will donate 9% of all proceeds raised to The TEARS Foundation from now till the closing night of the full production set for March, 2016. With this partnership we wish to help not only the families connected to The TEARS Foundation, but all those who are experiencing grief by letting them know you are not alone. By offering a free show to those in the grief community on Saturday, August 22nd at 2pm, we hope to share the experience of grief, and support those in there darkest moments.

Savor is Haberdasher's fourteenth production and marks the companies first dance performance piece under New York Branch Artistic Director, Joseph Dale Harris. It is sure to build upon the company's reputation for developing highly entertaining, thought-provoking performance art. A nonprofit theatre company with eight seasons under its belt, the company began when a small group of actors, freshly graduated from conservatory, decided to take matters into their own hands and produce a show written by co-founder Adam Wier (Remember Me). With his direction, as well as that of the company's second co-founder Hollie Klem, Haberdasher Theatre Inc. has produced fourteen shows including Marlowe's Doctor Faustus, Arnold Schulman's Lost, Euripides' The Cyclops, Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, Richard Greenberg's The Maderati, Mac Wellman's Dracula, and The Wonderful Remix of Oz co-written by Executive Artistic Director Hollie Klem. The company has also adapted, directed, and performed stories by both Barefoot Books and Lewis Carol at venues such as FAO Schwartz, NYC and Books of Wonder, NYC. They also hold seasonal special topics workshops for theatre artists in New York. Talk-backs and themed soirées highlight their commitment to fostering the exchange of dialogue between artist and audience.
