HOW TO BE A LESBIAN IN TEN DAYS OR LESS Set to Play the United Solo Festival, 10/27

Rhode Island-based theatre artist Leigh Hendrix is proud to present the New York City premier of her solo performance, How To Be A Lesbian in 10 Days or Less. Written and performed by Hendrix and directed by Peter Deffet, the show is a hilarious coming out story and guide to gay for budding lesbians, no matter their sexual orientation. How To Be A Lesbian in 10 Days or Less runs October 27th at 7:30 PM at Theatre ROW, 410 West 42nd Street as part of the 2011 United Solo Theatre Festival.

How To Be A Lesbian in 10 Days or Less was developed at Emerson College and Perishable Theatre. With the premier at WAM Theatre's O Solo Mama Mia Festival in the Berkshires of Massachusetts in May 2011, Chris Rohman of The Vally Advocate said, " The magic of this show comes from its seamless marriage of pointEd Mockery with personal narrative..." calling Hendrix, "a delightfully surprising and witty performer."

With the outrageous character of motivational speaker Butchy McDyke as a guide, Hendrix leads the audience on a journey of self-discovery and first love, coming out, politics, and a really important Reba McEntire song. Hendrix says, "The show is deeply personal and incredibly silly at the same time. It's a story about figuring out for yourself who you are and how that you is connected to everybody else. And there's dancing. Really ridiculous dancing."

Hendrix creates comedic and personal solo performances and makes theatre as an actor, writer, and improvisor with other artists of all shapes and sizes in Providence, RI. She is a Myrtle Beach native and graduate of Coastal Carolina University. She has performed at Perishable Theatre, with Theatre of Thought, DoubleShift Dance Theatre, and as a guest with The Empire Revue at AS220 and The Sweet Little Variety Show. Hendrix performs nights of improvised television with The Trumans and will premier How To Be A Lesbian in 10 Days or Less at The New Orleans Fringe Festival in November.
