Previews begin next week for Shakespeare's HENRY VI Part 3 at the East 13th Street Theater (136 E. 13th St., between 3rd & 4th). The production is presented by Wide Eyed Productions in association with Columbia University School of the Arts Theatre Arts Program and will be directed by Adam Marple.

Revenge and ambition battle for the crown in the bloodiest chapter of the English Civil War. Henry VI part 3 stands on its own as an epic political struggle and (fans revel) tells the origin story of Shakespeare's most abominable monarch, Richard III.

In the middle of the bloody maelstrom are two men with the forward momentum to take their country in wildly divergent directions. As one ascends to a higher state of existence no longer needing the trappings of a crown, the other descends to a dark and dangerous place where the crown is all that is visible in his sights.

HENRY VI Part 3 will play through July 24 with performances Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8pm and matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. To purchase tickets, click here.
