In this uncompromising crime drama, by one of the writers/producers of the AMC series Mad Men; a routine domestic disturbance call sends two Chicago cops, Denny (performed by Brian Jensen) and Joey (performed by Joel Cochrane), on a harrowing journey that test their loyalties and change their lives forever.
A STEADY RAIN premiered at Chicago Dramatists in 2007, continuing on to premiere in New York City on Broadway in September 2009; starring Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig. The sold-out engagement broke the Broadway record for highest weekly gross of a non-musical production with Time Magazine declaring the New York run of A STEADY RAIN one of the "Top 10 plays of 2009."
Critics have called Keith Huff's A STEADY RAIN "… a gritty, rich, thick poetic and entirely gripping noir tale." (Chris Jones, The Chicago Tribune); and "… excellent, evocative." (Variety Magazine).
Keith Huff is a 25-year veteran of the Chicago theatre scene and Resident Playwright Emeritus of Chicago Dramatists. Mr. Huff has written a dozen plays including the recently produced The Detective's Wife, which continues the trilogy of plays about Chicago police officers that began with A STEADY RAIN.
After the success of A STEADY RAIN in Chicago and New York City - which Huff is currently adapting for film, he was able to leave his 20-year job as a medical journal editor and is now a writer and co-producer for AMC's Emmy and Golden Globe-winning television series Mad Men. Mr. Huff is also writing Kill Switch, an original screenplay for the AMC's series Why We Fight; and for the upcoming NetFlix series House of Cards, featuring Kevin Spacey.
The GZT and H&M production of A STEADY RAIN by Keith Huff features Joel Cochrane (Joey) and Brian Jensen (Denny). The cast is directed by Kevin McKendrick, set, costume and lighting design Nick Blais, sound design Peter Moller and stage manager Kelsey ter Kuile.
