Ars Nova presents, as part of the Out Loud series, a FREE reading of FRIEND ART by Sofia Alvarez, directed by Portia Krieger. The cast includes Greg Keller, Jessica Love, Arian Moayed and Cassie Paras.
There's a lot of art in New York City: the good, the bad and the ugly. Molly came to New York with dreams of acting, but now works in a law firm. Lil is a young performance artist who makes solo shows in basement theaters. Kevin curates art for corporations, while Nate was a semi-famous alt-rocker, but now mostly just snorts cocaine. Four friends juggling life in the city come face to face with what it means to support the art your friends make, regardless of what it does to your friendship.
Sofia Alvarez's plays include Between Us Chickens, Life Drawing, The Fish Bowl, Nylon and Friend Art. She is a member of the Ars Nova Play Group, New George's JAM and Primary Stages' Dorothy Strelsin New American Writer's Group. She is currently a staff writer for USA's Sirens.
