Gorilla Repertory Theater Company will continue its 15th anniversary season with a free, outdoor production of William Shakespeare's Henry V in Riverside Park.
Henry V, "the stirring tale of the boy king of England's ascendancy to power," as described in press notes, will run from July 12th to August 5th, Thursday through Sunday nights at 8:00 PM in Riverside Park (follow signs to the "Passive Area" near 82nd Street). Admission is free, although donations are accepted after the performance. Seating is first-come, first-served. No reservations. The production features Gorilla Rep's trademark "dynamic seating," in which the audience follows and surrounds the actors as the scenes shift from place to place.
Founding artistic director Christopher Carter Sanderson will direct the production, which will be his last stage work before his scheduled deployment to the Persian Gulf this fall (Sanderson is a Bosun's Mate, Third Class in the United States Navy Reserve).
Henry V stars recent Yale School of Drama graduate Jeff Barry as Henry; Jacob H. Knoll (recent Yale School of Drama graduate and star of Gorilla Rep's acclaimed Hamlet) as Chorus and Prologue; Greg Petroff (longtime Gorilla Rep veteran) as Fluellen; Lynda Kennedy (longtime Gorilla Rep veteran) as Mistress Quickly and Queen Isabel; Frances You Sanderson (Ophelia in Gorilla Rep's Hamlet; also seen in Double Happiness with Sandra Oh) as Katherine; and Jy Murphy (longtime Gorilla Rep veteran and star of The Countess off-Broadway) as Exeter.
The production runs July 12 – August 5, 2007, Thursday – Sunday nights at 8:00 PM. Visit www.gorillarep.org for more information.
