Galli Theatre presents SISTER ALYONUSHKA AND BROTHER IVANUSHKA: A Russian Fairytale for kids in six performances every Saturday and Sunday, 3 p.m. at 38 West 38th Street, New York, NY from May 1 through May 23, 2010.

In SISTER ALYONUSHKA AND BROTHER IVANUSHKA, a witch casts a spell and turns the boy, Ivanushka into a goat. Being a goat isn’t that bad for Ivanushka; He still loves to perform his favorite hip-hop dance. It is a story that gives a peek into the wisdom of Russian folklore.

Galli Theater promotes personal growth through innovative, modern adaptations of fables and fairytales from around the world. It aims to help children and youth cope with fears, increase self-esteem, creativity, communication and teamwork. The theater has created 18 original plays witnessed by over 20,000 participants in live audiences from Austria to Mexico.

Award-winning philosopher, actor and playwright Johannes Galli first founded the international Theater in Germany and it has since established an outstanding reputation for creative drama workshops that awaken one’s true source of power. Physician and award-winning creative healing drama specialist, Dr. Tatjana Maya brought Galli Theater to New York in May 2008.

Through positive, interactive and humorous messages and images, Galli ignites children’s imaginations and invites each child to reach and express a full range of human emotion from a young age. Galli aims to discourage fear by eliminating grim messages in theater. It provides young actors and artists with this opportunity through main stage productions, open auditions, acting classes, workshops, youth empowerment programs and camps year round.
