Now in its second year, producer Britt Lafield will again allow theater-lovers to get a second chance at seeing some of the Festival's favorite shows with the FringeNYC Encore Series.
"In 16 days even the most intrepid theatergoer can only sample a small fraction of the nearly 200 offerings at the New York International Fringe Festival. Beginning August 30, the FringeNYC Encore Series will present a dozen works in rotating repertory at two downtown venues: Soho Playhouse and The Theatres at 45 Bleecker. Selected show have either been audience favorites, lauded by critics, or both; show information and performance times will be announced Saturday, August 25," state press notes.
"One of the great thing about FringeNYC is that it creates this unique atmosphere in which really exciting work can get a level of attention that would otherwise be impossible. The unavoidable downside is that just as your word-of-mouth has caught fire, your run is over," say producer Britt Lafield. "We wanted to give a handful of worthy shows a chance to be seen by more people. These actors, directors, writers and designers have all worked so hard and deserve an encore."
Note: the FringeNYC Encore Series is not a production of The Present Company or The New York International Fringe Festival. The FringeNYC name is used with permission.
Britt Lafield's was the Artistic Manager at the Soho Playhouse for four years. His production credits include Never Swim Alone, A False Engagement, A Company of Wayward Saints, and The Rimers of Eldritch. He is currently producing Susan Gets Some Play at FringeNYC 2007.
FringeNYC Encore Series runs August 30 - September 16. Tickets will be $18 and go on sale Monday, August 27. For more information visit www.fringenyc-encores.com.
