FGP Toobies is an award show that celebrates all things viral. Viral videos have changed our culture. Now there's an awards show that celebrates not only their creators, but also the audience that seeks them out and makes them legendary. You may be able to broadcast yourself, your mom falling off the sofa, or a girl you can't believe ate that-but we, the audience, are the ones who laugh, re-watch, and share it with our friends. We are the ones who make a video viral. And we are the ones who could win a Toobie for it.
Fresh Ground Pepper is a monthly series for the development of new ideas. It is a place where artists of all mediums can bring new work into a performative space for experimentation, feedback, collaboration, and growth. As an organization, FGP has performed at over twenty venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn over the past 3 years. This benefit allows FGP to remain free all year round! Your support is greatly appreciated.
"This is a reading workshop as event, not just a performance, and the response seems to indicate that in that sense [Fresh Ground Pepper] has tapped into something quite fruitful." -Kevin Armento, BushwickBK.com
"Political Subversities is making politics cool again. Just like on The Colbert Report and The Daily Show, humor is the weapon for education, but these performers take more risks than Colbert or Stewart ever could on television. Easily one of the best shows in New York right now".- Chelsea Davison, ology.com
"...her ability to give distinctive energy to the wide variety of objects she utilizes, ranging from fans to florescent lights, is certainly one of the reasons why this device is so effective." on Nikki Calonge by Mitchell Conway,
