Fearless Theatre presents a new adaptation of Frank Wedekind's controversial classic, Spring Awakening at The Charnel House (3421 W. Fullerton Ave) in Logan Square. Performances will take place Thursday through Sunday April 11th to the 26th at 7:30PM.

In this newly revamped version of Frank Wedekind's 1891 play, a group of classmates gather for a party in an abandoned mortuary. As the festivities progress, the students are forced to navigate a maze of adolescence and are ultimately left with the choice between walking the same path as their parents or forging their own. The show will ignite conversation with audiences about what they can do, right in this moment, to change the future and build a safer kinder place for their children.

This script is adapted and directed by Jeremy Ohringer, who recently directed Who Rowed Across Oceans which performed in Chicago and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As well as the world premier of Salve Regina which was produced in New York and is slated to come to Chicago this summer. When asked what audiences should expect, Ohringer states "our Spring Awakening will be loud, delicate, energetic, intimate - it won't look away from the things that are hard to watch, and will embrace the excitement of what it feels like being a teenager."

For this production, Fearless will be partnering with the Youth Empowerment Performance Project (YEPP). YEPP is dedicated to offering a safe environment for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness, and provides a space for members to explore their past and celebrate their triumphs through the process of developing a theatrical performance. The members of YEPP will also engage in an arts exchange with Fearless through workshops as well as leading post-show panel discussions.

The ensemble is led by Sammy Ziesel as the rebellious Melchior Gabor, Charlotte Cannon as the inquisitive Wendla, and Nicholas Hyland who was last seen in Dog Sees God, as the on-edge Moritz Stiefel. Amelia Hefferon. David Gallo, Jonathan Reichart, Glenna Brucken, Daniella Pereria, Will Lidke, Alexander Baggett, and Artistic Director, Derek Herman rounds out the cast.

The Production Team includes: Jeremy Ohringer (Director), Katie Langley (Stage Manager), Will Qualm (Set Designer), Adam Marcantoni (Lighting Designer). Patrick Budde (Sound Designer), Dylan Pickus (Dramaturg), Natalie Houchins (Outreach Coordinator), and Maya Rowe (Production Intern).

Tickets can be purchased online at www.fearlesstheatre.com for $15 and FREE for high school students with a valid student ID.
