Fault Line Theatre (Aaron Rossini, Artistic Director) kicks off its 2011-2012 season with Frogs by Aristophanes November 4th through 19th at the Fourth Street Theatreb(83 East 4th Street, between Bowery and 2nd Avenue). Aaron Rossini will direct.
A rowdy, bawdy romp through the underworld, Frogs is a celebration of humor and a poignant examination of the purpose of art. Inventing what would become the finest traditions of modern comedy, Aristophanes brings to life characters that belong in the same breath as
The Three Stooges,
Mel Brooks and Looney Tunes. A night of original music, jokes and capable storytelling, Frogs is a comedy event 2,500 years in the making.
The production stars Rachel Christopher, Matt Clevy, Craig Divino,
Becky Gibel,
Karl Gregory, Scott Raker, Haas Regen,
Blake Segal, David Rudi Utter, and John Tracey. The production team includes Brandt Adams (dramaturg, assistant director),
Tristan Jeffers (scenic design/producer), Allison Crutchfield (costume design), John Eckert (lighting design), Eric Thomas Johnson (composer), Jimmy King (voice and speech coach) and Jamie Steffen (production stage manager).
Running November 4 through 19, the performance schedule is Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 pm with additional performances Saturday, November 12 at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, November 15 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, November 19 at 2:30 pm.
