A handful of Syracuse University acting majors led the student-run theatre organization on campus. With great effort and lots of mistakes, they eventually discovered the natural producers within them. After graduating from school and moving to the city, their mission became clear: to build the next generation of professional theatre artists. Their generation. As an organization, Egg & Spoon Theatre Collective is devoted to gathering young artists to foster and develop their creative processes. It is not a training program, and they do not charge tuition. Egg & Spoon is a theatre company, that has a season, and sells tickets. However, they are ensuring that their work is created by young artists, who are taking risks and creating without fear. They are starting their first season with MORNING by Simon Stephens, which will be running September 14-17th at The Bridge Theater at Shetler Studios.
MORNING by Simon Stephens is about Stephanie, a seventeen year old whose life has fallen apart. With her mom dying, her best friend leaving, and her relationship gone to hell, this week might just be the end of the world.
The production features Bryn Dolan, Jesse O'Brien, Pascal Portney, Julián Garnik, Alex Griffin, and Sam Phillips. It is directed by Liam Lonegan.
