Dixon Place and Drama of Works has announced the premiere of Leakey's Ladies, a multidisciplinary production exploring the work of three revered primatologists and their work of studying and saving great apes. Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey, and Biruté Galdikas were all guided and inspired by British scientist Louis Leakey who inspired and mentored them throughout their achievements, struggles, and research.

The three shot plays, woven together with innovative puppet design, original music and tiered staging, will create a striking theater experience crafted by over 10 professional theater women.
Written by Erin Courtney (Jane), Rachel Hoeffel (Biruté) and Crystal Skillman (Dian), Leakey’s Ladies is directed and designed by Gretchen Van Lente. The production team includes Molly Kohl (assistant director), David Valentine (ape puppets and masks) and Stephanie Richards (original music). The cast includes Meghan Williams (Jane Goodall), Tatiana Pavela (Dian Fossey), Amy Carrigan (Biruté Galdikas), Scott Weber (Louis Leakey), and Patrick Shearer (Bob/Rod/Hugo) and puppeteers Emily Hartford, Joseph Garner, Molly Kohl, Melissa Mendez and Julia Smith. Jeanette Yew (lighting design) and Kate Brown (sound design) are on the creative team.
