Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) wrap their fourth year of punk rock basement theatre with a performance where D3C co-founders Stephen Gracia and Michael LoPorto again team with alma-mater Brooklyn College to present "Gunshot. Silence. (An Evening of Noir Plays)." The performance is a collection new plays of Joe Orton influenced Noir that mix absurdity, heartbreak, and bloody mayhem. This partnership with Brooklyn College's BFA Acting program pairs undergrads with D3C's seasoned collective actors. The performance will feature live music from Tommy Lombardozzi. Admission is free, with a $3 suggested donation. The show starts at 8pm tonight, May 21 at Dennehy's on 63 Carmine Street, New York, NY 10014.
"Gunshot. Silence. (An Evening of Noir Plays)" reveal "a dark bar full of beauties and bastards, knock outs and knuckle daggers, each one a fading and bitter star, dreading the rapidly encroaching morning light," said Gracia. The short plays are: "Cumulative & Concussive Damage to the Brain," "Our Daisies Grown In Forgotten Cities," and "The Nixe Rose of Yellow Hook." The new works drip with Noir influence, with characters Gracia described as: "brains wet and bruised from booze and inner monologues, litanies of failures and regrets, the chatter of a lifetime of blown chances. Suddenly, a cold steel muzzle to the back of the head focuses thoughts like viewing an eclipse through a pinprick of light...how did we get here? Gunshot. Silence."
"Gunshot. Silence (An Evening of Noir Plays)" features: Jessica Bathurst, Ally Callaghan, John Gazzale, Chakeefe Gordon, Marisela Gonzalez, Adama Jackson, Anthony Marino, Anthony Noto, and Connor Sheridan.
