DANCE FILMS ASSOCIATION invites you to 'AN EVENING WITH Vincent Paterson' at the SVA Theatre on Thursday, August 25. The director and choreographer, who, with superstars Madonna and Michael Jackson, created some of the most iconic moments in pop culture, will take to the stage for a presentation of clips and imagery, and a discussion about his career with host Joseph A. Berger. Mr. Paterson will also read excerpts from his new memoir. A reception will immediately follow in the SVA Theatre lobby.

Vincent Paterson is a thirty-plus year veteran of music video, film, theater, and television, best known for his co-direction and choreography of Madonna's BLOND AMBITION TOUR, considered by many to be the greatest pop spectacle of all time. The award-winning artist has been featured twice in the Dance on Camera Festival, a co-presentation of Dance Films Association and the Film Society of Lincoln Center: first in 2006, in the tribute program Vincent Paterson: MASTER OF ALL MEDIA, and again in 2014, as the subject of the feature documentary THE MAN BEHIND THE THRONE.

AN EVENING WITH Vincent Paterson will celebrate Mr. Paterson's extraordinary body of work, including choreography in music videos like Michael Jackson's SMOOTH CRIMINAL and Madonna's VOGUE and EXPRESS YOURSELF; film credits including Mike Nichols' THE BIRDCAGE, Alan Parker's EVITA, and Lars von Trier's DANCER IN THE DARK; and theater work as choreographer on Hal Prince's Broadway production of KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN (starring Chita Rivera), and Cirque du Soleil's VIVA! ELVIS in Las Vegas.

Tickets on sale now: $20 General Public; $10 Dance Films Members.

As a director and choreographer, Vincent Paterson created many iconic works for Madonna and Michael Jackson, including Madonna's 1990 BLOND AMBITION TOUR (on which the film TRUTH OR DARE is based), her unforgettable Marie Antoinette VOGUE performance for the MTV VMAs, and the choreography for her videos VOGUE and EXPRESS YOURSELF. For Michael Jackson, with whom he worked for over 15 years, Vincent created the BAD TOUR (1987-89), SMOOTH CRIMINAL and BLOOD ON THE DANCE FLOOR, and multiple other Jackson music videos and live performances, from the Grammys to the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Paterson's film work includes direction and choreography for the musical sequences in Lars Von Trier's film DANCER IN THE DARK (2000), winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Paterson also choreographed THE BIRDCAGE and CLOSER for director Mike Nichols, EVITA for director Alan Parker, HOOK for Steven Spielberg, and the TNT Telefilm, IN SEARCH OF Dr. Seuss, which received seven Emmy nominations.

Paterson's extensive theatre and opera credits include Hal Prince's KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN (for which he received a 1993 Tony nomination for Best Choreography), London's West End production of LENNY for director Sir Peter Hall, LA Opera's GRAND DUCHESS for director Garry Marshall, Berlin's first original production of the musical CABARET at Bar Jeder-Vernunft, and EVITA for Vienna's Ronacher Theater. Paterson's direction of the play GANGSTA LOVE earned him a Los Angeles Drama-Logue award for Outstanding Director. He directed Prague's National BlackLight Theater in a stunning version of GULLIVER'S TRAVELS, and is the director, writer, and co-choreographer of Cirque du Soleil's, VIVA! ELVIS in Las Vegas, which ran over 1,000 performances. Vincent directed the critically acclaimed opera MANON with soprano Anna Netrebko, conducted by Placido Domingo.
