THE Pearl Theatre Company (J.R. Sullivan, Artistic Director; Shira Beckerman, Managing Director) has announced that actor Chris Mixon, currently featured in the company's production of THE SNEEZE, will appear in the spring production of WITTENBERG as DR. Martin Luther. WITTENBERG will be directed by J.R. Sullivan and run at New York City Center Stage II March 11 through April 17, 2011. Tickets are currently on sale.

Chris Mixon rises to the occasion." The actor was recently seen in New York at the Mint Theater in Dr. Knock, or the Triumph of Medicine and regionally at the Denver Center Theatre Company, the
Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival.
David Davalos' 2008 comedy WITTENBERG, first seen at the Arden Theatre in Philadelphia, will receive its New York premiere at The Pearl. Set at Wittenberg University, circa 1517, the play pits professors Doctor Faustus and Reverend Martin Luther against each other to gain allegiance of their star pupil Prince Hamlet. Mr. Davalos won
The Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award and the Barrie and Bernice Stavis Playwriting Award through the
National Theatre Conference. The play won a Barrymore Award for Outstanding New Play for the Arden Theatre production and was nominated for a
Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Resident Play.

The Pearl performs at New York
City Center's Stage II. Its current production, THE SNEEZE, runs through October 31, 2010, followed by
Henrik Ibsen's ROSMERSHOLM, which will begin in November. The season will continue with THE MISANTHROPE by Molierè in January 2011 and conclude with WITTENBERG.
