Tony Chiroldes -- original Broadway cast member of IN THE HEIGHTS -- performs in BEFORE ICARUS FELL, a multi-media, live-actor and shadow puppetry piece with music inspired by the life of one of the world's earliest aviators, in a limited run Nov. 3-7 at Theatre Row (42 Street between 9th and 10th avenues).

Alberto Santos-Dumont, in his native country of Brazil is considered the true father of aviation. A 1901 flight that rounded the Eiffel Tower made him one of the most famous people in the world during the early 20th Century. He later became a footnote in the history books. Was he really the first to fly?

BEFORE ICARUS FELL features Liz Acosta (The Secret Garden, Cyrano the Musical), Laurie Berenhaus, Tony Chiroldes (The Capeman and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood) and Bill Remington (The Lion King, Little Shop of Horrors).

Chiroldes received a 2010 Seed Grant from The Jim Henson Foundation in order to develop the play.

A three-minute version of BEFORE ICARUS FELL was created at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center's 2002 Puppetry Conference. There, it was one of five works chosen to be performed at the conference's final public presentation. BEFORE ICARUS FELL was subsequently revised and presented at the Cat's Paw Collective cabaret, at Manhattan's Don't Tell Mama acclaimed cabaret venue in 2004. In December 2005, a 15-minute version was workshopped and performed at Ripley-Greer Studios, in Manhattan, for an invited audience.

Having taken a leave of absence in order to present the ICARUS project, next week Chiroldes will return to the ensemble of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical, where he understudies the featured roles of Kevin and the Piragua Guy. The latter he will play exclusively from December 27 until closing (January 9) alongside the musical's creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda.

As a freelance voice-over performer, Tony has added his voice to literally hundreds of English and Spanish commercials as well as projects like the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City; the just-released audio book of Ricky Martin's biography, YO/ME;  as well simultaneous translation into 'español' on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel

He is featured in the just-released "It Gets Better" campaign video produced in part by BC/EFA.

Tickets for BEFORE ICARUS FELL are available at the theatre box office, Telecharge and Telecharge.com. Additional information is available at www.beforeicarusfell.com, Facebook and YouTube.
