Colt Coeur, an artists' ensemble, collaboratively creates theater from the ground up. Founded in 2010, Colt Coeur has created and produced 4 world-premieres: Seven Minutes in Heaven, together as a company with playwright Steven Levenson; Fish Eye, with playwright Lucas Kavner, Recall, by Eliza Clark, and Everything is Ours, by Nikole Beckwith. Colt Coeur also develops new work through its Play Hotel series.

Colt Coeur is a Brooklyn-based theater company founded in 2010. We embrace the infinite theatrical potential of intimate live performance. We make theater that is imbued with the urgency and intensity of the present-theater that responds to and engages with the world in which we live with compassion, humor, ferocity, and an abiding, unapologetic sense of wonder. We make theater that relies on the rough and ephemeral electricity between actors and audience, theater which utilizes a poverty of means to achieve richness of expression, which attempts to address the ambivalence and terror and exhilaration of our age on the scale of person-to-person and moment-to-moment. Our original, story-driven, visceral theater straddles the line between mainstream and experimental, elevates design while valuing strong storytelling, and pulls you close and doesn't let go. We strive to create great happenings in small rooms, theater as close as a whisper in your ear or a stranger's hand brushing yours. Intimacy is our way in.

From our free workshops and Education Initiative to our low-ticket price fully-realized productions, we aim to nurture the next generation of theater artists and attract a diverse and eclectic audience. Over 4 years, Colt Coeur has produced 4 world premieres; developed 11 plays; and provided free arts education for NYC middle school students.
