Noted psychiatrist Dr. Edward “Pappy” Lowell is the happiest man he knows. His son Brett is one of his closest friends. The two of them will join together to present an evening of songs and stories on the art and science of being happy — 83 years of wisdom on living a life of joy, passed from father to son. It will feature a range of music, including the songs of Kander and Ebb, Bruce Springsteen, Comden & Green, Alan Menkin, Jason Robert Brown, the Beatles and more. Written by Brett Lowell & Edward Lowell, MD. Musical director Darius Frowner.

Brett Lowell is a singer experienced in styles ranging from cabaret, musical theater, swing, jazz and classical. He has performed with numerous groups and venues in the NYC area, including The Duplex, Rose’s Turn, Don’t Tell Mama’s, St. Bart’s Players, Brooklyn Heights Players, St. John the Divine, Merkin Concert Hall, Tim McLoone’s Supper Club (in Asbury Park, with Bob Egan) and Carnegie Hall.

Edward Lowell, MD is a physician of 58 years specializing in psychotherapy and forensic psychiatry. He has taken his practice beyond treating mental illness to empowering people to live with aliveness and joy. This represents Dr. Lowell’s stage debut.

Darius Frowner is a musical director and pianist from New York City who has supervised numerous productions throughout the United States and Europe. Darius won the Bistro Award for Excellence in Piano Bar Entertainment for his work at the Duplex in Greenwich Village where he is a mainstay on Monday and Thursday nights. Darius has been an adjunct artist at NYU and The New School.
