CAP21 Theatre Co Presents MARRYING GEORGE CLOONEY, Previews 2/29

CAP21 Theatre Company will present the world premiere of MARRYING GEORGE CLOONEY: CONFESSIONS FROM A MIDLIFE CRISIS – a new play by Amy Ferris, Ken Ferris, and Krista Lyons. Previews begin February 29, prior to its official press opening March 1 at the CAP21 Black Box Theater (18 West 18th Street) in Manhattan. Frank Ventura, CAP21 Executive Artistic Director and co-founder, directs.

The ensemble cast features Meghan Duffy, who portrayed Frenchy in the original Broadway company of GREASE; Eliza Ventura, CAP21 Artistic Director and co-founder whose credits include KILLING LOUISE and Steven Sater's ASYLUM; and three-time Emmy nominee Colleen Zenk, best known for her 32-year run on "As the World Turns."

MARRYING George Clooney: CONFESSIONS FROM A MIDLIFE CRISIS, is a sharp-witted new play about three menopausal women wide-awake at 3 a.m. trading prescription drugs online, revealing their passions, and googling old boyfriends, while stressing over the mother of all issues: moms.

The production has set design by Jon Knust, lighting design by Clark Gaesser, media design by Grant McDonald, costume design by Julia Broer, and sound design by John Emmett O'Brien.

Meghan Duffy portrayed Frenchy in the original Broadway company of GREASE and appeared in the National tours of MAME, opposite Juliet Prowse, and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. New York and regional credits include SWEENEY TODD, THE WONDER YEARS, GEORGY, BEEHIVE, PUMP BOYS & DINETTES, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, and DAMES AT SEA (Sarah Siddons Award nomination).

Eliza Ventura previously appeared at CAP21 in KILLING LOUISE, opposite Rosemary Prinz, and EVIDENCE OF THINGS UNSEEN. Other stage credits include LAUGHING WILD (Capital Rep); ASYLUM (Naked Angels); ASPIRIN AND ELEPHANTS (American Stage Co.), directed by Jim Dale; and ANDROMACHE (Pearl Theater Co.). TV and film credits include "New York News," "Law and Order," "The Cotton Club," and "Prodigal Child."

Colleen Zenk earned three Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Barbara Ryan, a role she played continuously from 1978-2010, on daytime's "As the World Turns." Last year, she debuted her one-woman show STILL SASSY at Feinstein's at the Regency. New York and regional
credits include BRING BACK BIRDIE on Broadway; ODYSSEY; SUMMER STOCK (CAP21); FOLLIES; HELLO, DOLLY!; APPLAUSE; and THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG. A cancer survivor, she is the National Spokesperson for the Oral Cancer Foundation.

Frank Ventura has directed and choreographed numerous New York and regional productions. His Off-Broadway credits include THE NO-FRILLS REVUE, KISS ME QUICK BEFORE THE LAVA REACHES THE VILLAGE and GIRL CRAZY. He has worked as a Movement and Etiquette Consultant for
Roundabout Theatre Company, Manhattan Theater Club, The Public, Classic Stage Company. He has also served as President of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation.

Amy Ferris is an author, a screenwriter, and an editor. She is passionate about all things women-centric. She has serves on the Board of Directors of Peters Valley Arts, Education and Craft Center, and on the Advisory Board of The Women's Media Center. Her bestselling memoir, "Marrying George Clooney: Confessions From a Midlife Crisis," was published by Seal Press in 2010.

CAP21 Theatre Company was founded by Frank Ventura and Eliza Ventura in 1993. For nearly twenty years, The CAP21 Theatre Company has produced new musicals and new plays by emerging and established theatre writers. Its 2011 production of Dan Collins and Julianne Wick Davis' new musical SOUTHERN COMFORT recently received a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding New York Theatre: Off-Off Broadway.
